Position Overview

Kula Project is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Consultant to support the development and implementation of Kula’s MEAL Plan. The MEAL Consultant will work closely with Kula’s Impact Director and Program Staff to improve data collection, analysis, and team learning, ultimately enabling the Kula team to better understand, increase, and communicate its impact.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with non-profit organizations, particularly in the areas of data science, program evaluation, and monitoring systems. They should be familiar with tools such as KoboToolbox and Power BI, and possess strong leadership and project management skills, enabling their role to be instrumental in improving understanding of program outcomes and refining Kula’s strategies for greater impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with enumerators to ensure the accurate collection of data and provide technical support for the development and implementation of baseline, endline, and post-program surveys
  • Provide training to enumerators and Program Team in MEAL methodologies, data collection processes, and the use of relevant tools.
  • Analyze data to assess program impact and identify trends or areas for improvement
  • Enhance Kula’s culture of learning and accountability across the organization by supporting the development and delivery of regular internal reviews and lessons-learned sessions with Impact Director and Program Team
  • Assist Impact Director in preparing impact reports for the Kula team as well as donors, partners, and other stakeholders
  • Provide guidance to the Impact Director and Program Team by presenting complex data in a clear and actionable way to non-technical audiences
  • Assist in the creation of documentation, manuals, and other resources to build internal capacity

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in MEAL in a non-profit or development setting
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis, program evaluation, and the design/implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems
  • Proficiency in data collection tools such as KoboToolbox and data visualization softwares like Power BI
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data and generate actionable insights
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Experience working with teams providing training or capacity building
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Kinyarwanda and English
