The City of Kigali is the capital of Rwanda and is located at Rwanda’s geographical heart.

1. Job Title: Landscape Designer

Job responsibilities

Overall responsibilities The staff will be responsible of management of contracts involving the implementation of landscaping projects. He /she will be in charge of following up those projects from the design phase up to the project implementation phase. He /she will ensure that the works are implemented in accordance with the approved landscaping plans and meet the required standards. He/she will also ensure a smooth progress of works and the quality of work. In addition, the staff will make sure that the contracts meet the targeted timeline and budgets. Furthermore, the staff will advise the City of Kigali through the SPIU on neighbourhood landscaping and public green space designs and management;

 

Detailed tasks (Responsibilities)

  • Monitor the implementation of landscaping programs, projects and strategies which will be implemented through the SPIU of the City of Kigali
  • Overseeing quality control for landscape projects or sub projects as they progress
  • Ensure that landscaping projects or activities are carried out in conformity with the social and environmental safeguard requirements as described in specific ESMF.
  • checking contractors/consultants’ invoices and check whether they conform with the executed works or the provided consultancy services thus process the payment of those invoices.
  • Ensuring that the proposed vegetation species and/or strategies and Landscaping works for a specific project are performed as per the approved specifications;
  • Planning the work and efficiently organizing the implementation of landscaping plans and /or projects in order to meet agreed deadlines and providing advice to resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise;
  • Work hand-in-hand with other professionals such as civil Engineers, architects, etc to ensure the delivery of projects with high quality
  • Ensure that the designed and implemented projects are environmentally friendly
  • Prepare ToRs, supervise technical studies, work supervision, etc - for Landscaping works
  • Liaise with consultants and other professional experts involved in the project to make sure that the proposed landscape designs are in line with local environmental laws urban planning principles and landscaping standards
  • Advising on matters to do with landscaping and environmental conservation
  • Reporting to the supervisors in accordance with the established reporting hierarchy and schedule,

Qualifications

  • Master’s in Architecture, Urban Planning, Urban Design, Landscaping architect with 5 Years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscaping architect with 7 Years of relevant experience

2. Job Title: Sustainable Urbanization Project Manager

Job responsibilities

  • Coordinate all program activities related to the sustainable urbanisation Project
  • Manage contracts, consultants/contractors progress and quality of deliverables, payments claim related to the above-mentioned project.
  • Propose the effective planning and coordination of projects under the sustainable urbanisation project.
  • Ensure projects under implementation are in full conformity with the Development Partners’ and GoR agreements and timely implemented;
  • Supervise day-to-day management of projects, including supervising and monitoring the progress and challenges and report regularly;
  • Planning the work and efficiently organizing the project in order to meet agreed deadlines and providing advice to resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise;
  • Prepare and facilitate donor’s supervision missions;
  • Mentor colleagues by sharing knowledge in sustainable urbanisation;
  • Support capacity building in contract management of staff that deals with projects’ operations with emphasis on Development Partners’ procedures;
  • Prepare periodical and situational progress reports on projects;
  • Ensure project activities are carried out in adherence to sound social and environmental safeguards.
  • Ensure project activities are carried out in adherence to climate resiliency throughout project lifecycle as well as ensuring traffic safety and gender inclusiveness.
  • Reports to SPIU Coordinator
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by a competent authority.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Urban and Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning with 8 Years of relevant experience

  • Master’s in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Urban and Regional Planning with 5 Years of relevant experience

3. Job Title: Sports and Recreation Specialist

Job responsibilities

  • Elaborate the strategy to monitor the implementation of national policies on Sports and Recreation in the City of Kigali and produce consolidated reports thereof;
  • Organize and implement, in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders, campaigns meant to promote Sports and Recreation across the City of Kigali;
  • Elaborate strategies and programs that contribute to the promotion of sports and recreational activities in the City of Kigali;
  • Develop and implement mechanisms that promote cooperation between sports organizations in the City and at the inter-cities level;
  • Elaborate strategies, plans and guidelines for the development of infrastructural facilities that support the development and sustainability of sports and recreational activities;
  • Support the realization of performance improvement for sporting teams engaged in competitions;
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Sciences, Sports Studies, Leisure Studies, Sports Development and Management, Recreation Management, Sports Development, Physical Education with 3 Years of relevant experience
  • Master’s Degree in Physical Education, Leisure Studies, Sports Development Studies, Sports Development and Management, Recreation Management, Sports Studies, Sports Sciences with 1 Years of relevant experience
